Watering and keeping your Christmas tree from getting too hot is the key!
If you’re not putting your Christmas tree up right away, store it in an area where it won’t be exposed to wind and freezing temperatures.
Before you bring the tree indoors, use a saw to make a fresh one-inch cut on the butt end (see below) and immediately place the tree in your Christmas tree stand with water – a good rule of thumb is two pints of water for every inch of diameter of the trunk. We strongly recommend using a CINCO or a Krinner water holding Christmas tree stand.
Christmas tree care tips. Make sure the water level covers the base of the tree – if the base dries out, the tree won't be able to absorb water and will dry out quickly. To minimise fire risk and the drying effect on the tree, check all tree lights for worn electrical cords, and remember to unplug them at night. Avoid positioning your real Christmas tree against sources of heat like radiators and fireplaces.
